As I am new to the LA area and living very close to Hollywood and Beverly Hills I have taken an interest to learn more about the movie industry as it was in the golden era of the 20th century. I just saw The Bad And The Beautiful and what a great movie! Excellent writing, direction, lighting, costumes and story line. One of the extra features on the DVD includes an interview with star Kirk Douglas and he states that he thinks this movie is the best and most accurate depiction of the movie business. Every role including the cameos are not wasted! Even caught Barbara Billingsley (Beaver and Wally’s mom from Leave it to Beaver) as the Costume Designer character! And the party scenes are delightful! If you like the old black and white films, this is a good one! What are your favorite films about Hollywood and the movie business?
